New trustees appointed for Star Group Pension Scheme

Three new trustees have been appointed for Star Group Pension Scheme.

Head of HR and support services Louise Sims and brand and communications manager Chris Leggett are taking on the roles of member nominated trustees.

MNA Magazines general manager Tom Graham joins as a company trustee.

The new member trustees replace Jim Barrow and John Phillips, who stepped down after a combined service of more than 40 years.

Trustees are appointed to contribute to the running of the pension scheme, with legal responsibilities for protecting the scheme and its benefits.

They also act in the best interests of all members of the pension scheme and have a range of obligations.

Star Group Pension Scheme has around 4,000 members including current staff, deferred members and pensioners.

Chairman of trustees Graham Evers paid tribute to Jim and John. He said: “Jim and John have been fantastic member trustees for Star Group Pension Scheme for many years.

“They have represented the members with diligence, working hard to deliver on their responsibilities.

“Pensions have changed dramatically during their time but Jim and John have consistently acted in the best interest of the members.

“We welcome Louise, Chris and Tom to the trustee board and look forward to their contributions to the scheme’s future development.”

There are five trustees of the scheme, with Paul Meier on board as a company trustee since 1994.

Member nominated trustees are elected by the Star Group Scheme staff pension committee, which meets throughout the year to keep members informed of how the scheme is progressing and to raise members’ questions.
